The Lincoln Wheat Ears Cent (sometimes referred to as a Wheat penny, a Wheatback, a Wheat Head, or a Wheatie) was produced from 1909 to 1958. Both the obverse and the reverse were designed by Victor David Brenner, a New York sculptor. Brenner's initials, V.D.B., were included on the reverse of the coin below the two stylized wheat stalks on a limited number of the coins until public controversy forced their removal. Lincoln Wheat Penny Auction Description: Key date 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent, PCGS Genuine, coded 97. While the 97 code indicates Environmental Damage, that over-simplified description doesn't tell the whole story. This coin is a completely original and very pleasing vf+, but it does have a slightly darker area on the reverse as seen. This area is very slightly rough, and while it may be technically correct to call it ED, the look is really quite natural. In addition, there are a few, very old, very light scrapes on the lower left reverse that are not visible in the pic. You do need a glass to see them, and they are quite minor. All-in-all, this is really a wonderful example for the collector on a budget, because this is a "problem" coin that doesn't look like a problem coin! Lincoln Wheat Penny Auction Description: End Coins- A Plain 1922 No D Wheat Penny and a 1926-D Wheat Penny ends. Have come across another No D Penny and this looks to be a nice one. If you feel you need anymore pics feel free to ask thanks! These rolls were saved by my late Grandfather over his entire life. He and my grandmother ran a small general store in Colorado and then in Ohio for over 40 years which gave him the opportunity to save boxes and boxes of alot of wheat pennies. He also had a special interest in Civil War Tokens and memorabilia. Alot of the rolls have these tokens on one end. We have sold over one hundred of these and there has been several valuable coins found like a 1908-S Indian Penny and several 1922 no D and 1922-D also 1909-S Wheat Pennies along with alot of Indian Head Pennies. These are crimped on both ends and are in N.F. String and Sons Bank wrappers and have not been opened since they have been rolled. I will try to answer any questions you may have although my knowledge of coins is very limited. I will also combine shipping for anyone winning more than one roll. Returns will only be accepted if the roll is returned unopened or tampered with for obvious reasons. Please post what you have found in the rolls so people can get an idea of what they can expect. Most have contained mostly wheat and indian pennies, but there have also been tokens, old dimes, 3 cents, flying eagles, and even a few nazi coins. Thank you and good luck!

ONE CENTNGC AU 55 BNMintage:Circulation strikes: 484,000 Designer: Victor David BrennerDiameter: 19 millimetersMetal content:Copper - 95%Tin and Zinc - 5%Weight: 48 grains (3.11 grams)Mintmark: "S" (for San Francisco) below the dateVictor David Brenner's design for the Lincoln Cent broke new ground by placing the image of an actual person on a coin made for circulation. In another break with tradition, Brenner placed his initials near the bottom of the back of the coin. Despite their small size, the letters V.D.B. were obvious enough to created an uproar with the public and Mint officials, who immediately demanded their removal. This was done later in 1909, resulting in the creation of four varieties: 1909 (with and without V.D.B.) and 1909-S (with and without V.D.B.). The 1909-S V.D.B. is the rarest of the four varieties. In 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt commissioned the famous American sculptor and artist, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, to prepare designs for a new Small Cent. Initially, Saint-Gaudens' design for the obverse featured a Flying Eagle motif similar to James Barton Longacre's designs on the Small Cents of 1856-1858. However, this design was scrapped in favor of a head of Victory in profile wearing an Indian headdress. Saint-Gaudens and Roosevelt liked this design so much that they used it on the 1907 $10 instead of on the Cent. Saint-Gaudens died of cancer before making any more progress on the Cent design so it was not until 1909 that Victor David Brenner created the famous bust of Abraham Lincoln with which we are all so familiar today.In fact, the 1909-S V.D.B. Penny has long been considered one of the key dates in the series, filling the dreams of collectors young and old. While the mintage of 484,000 may seem high compared to many other American rarities, one must understand that there are millions of people who collect Lincoln Head Cents. Lincoln Wheat Penny Auction Description: I'm not going to try to fool anyone saying that this is "Choice Brilliant Uncirculated" or anything similar to that. But this Double Die is certainly an uncirculated coin, albeit with a flat look from an old dipping that has negated all signs of original luster (I'm sure if sent to PCGS it will be returned as Genuine with a .91 (Questionable Color) or .94 (Altered Surfaces) code). Nevertheless, this copper has unusually mark-free fields indicative of no time spent in circulation. There are absolutely no hairline scratches nor any signs of an abrasive cleaning of any kind. The color shown in the full side pics is accurate; the color shown in the pic through my stereo microscope is too orange and too saturated.This cent possesses the two deep die scratches under the "T" in CENT on the reverse, the best indicator of a genuine 1955 Double Die. In fact, I own a few of these key varieties right now and this example has the best die-scratch indicator of the lot!Good Luck and Bid Often!
