Lincoln Wheat Penny Auction Description: I'm not going to try to fool anyone saying that this is "Choice Brilliant Uncirculated" or anything similar to that. But this Double Die is certainly an uncirculated coin, albeit with a flat look from an old dipping that has negated all signs of original luster (I'm sure if sent to PCGS it will be returned as Genuine with a .91 (Questionable Color) or .94 (Altered Surfaces) code). Nevertheless, this copper has unusually mark-free fields indicative of no time spent in circulation. There are absolutely no hairline scratches nor any signs of an abrasive cleaning of any kind. The color shown in the full side pics is accurate; the color shown in the pic through my stereo microscope is too orange and too saturated. This cent possesses the two deep die scratches under the "T" in CENT on the reverse, the best indicator of a genuine 1955 Double Die. In fact, I own a few of these key varieties right now and this example has the best die-scratch indicator of the lot!Good Luck and Bid Often!
